My better half’s 2016 Subie parked at Ft. Flagler today. We were out running from the forest fire smoke - better out here by the water but still hazy. The big 12" cannon emplacements are pretty impressive - basically rendered mostly out of date once somebody invented the airplane, but until then any unwelcome foes trying to get to Seattle by water were going to be blasted to sh!t in short order.

Some interesting reading on Wikipedia about previous fires and widespread darkness.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England%27s_Dark_Day

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinchaga_fire

The Chinchaga fire’s smoke may have literally circled the globe.

We dropped down to the “Unhealthy” range tonight! That’s almost breathable!

im happy that the beach here has 1500-2000 foot peaks immediately bordering it within a couple hundred feet. So when I am at the beach, the smoke is kept at bay, makes for a nice escape. At home is pretty exposed at 1400 feet though so its been quite hazy and smelling like a camp fire on occasion . At least its not raining ash...yet.
